Customer policy

Returns & Refunds Policy

If a book is not right, you can send it back. This page explains exactly how, who pays postage, and when you get your money.

Effective date: 20 August 2026

1. Your rights and our promise

If you are a consumer you have a legal right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason.

On top of that legal right, we offer a 30-day returns window from the day you receive your order. Nothing here affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

2. How to start a return

  1. Email returns@booksbymurando.co.uk with your order number, the title(s) you are returning and the reason (optional for a change of mind, helpful for a fault).
  2. We reply within 1 working day with return instructions and confirm the return address.
  3. Pack the book so it arrives in the same condition, include your order number in the parcel, and post it to us.

Please obtain proof of postage. Until the parcel reaches us it remains your responsibility, so a tracked service is recommended for higher-value books.

3. Return address

Returns Department, MOTOR PARTS MURANDO LIMITED, 15 Midhurst Grove, Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, WV6 8XN, United Kingdom.

Please do not send a return before contacting us — unannounced parcels can take longer to match to an order and refund.

4. Who pays return postage

  • Change of mind: you pay the return postage.
  • Faulty, damaged, incorrect item, or a condition materially worse than the grade stated: we pay. We will either send a prepaid label or refund your reasonable postage cost on production of a receipt.

5. Condition requirements

  • Books must come back in the condition you received them, with any shrink-wrap, slipcase, dust jacket or bundled items included.
  • Please do not write in, annotate, crease or otherwise mark the book. We may reduce a refund to reflect handling beyond what is needed to inspect the book, as the Regulations allow.
  • Pre-loved books are graded by hand. Wear consistent with the stated grade (New, Very Good, Good, Well Read) is not a fault — see our Terms & Conditions.

6. Refund timeframe and method

  • We inspect and process returns within 3 working days of receipt, and issue the refund within 14 days of receiving the goods at the latest.
  • Refunds go back to the original payment method. Your bank may take a further 3–5 working days to show the money.
  • Where you cancel under your 14-day legal right, we refund the price of the goods plus the standard outbound delivery cost. Any premium or express upgrade you chose is refunded up to our standard rate.

7. Damaged, incorrect or missing items

Tell us within 30 days of delivery, at returns@booksbymurando.co.uk, and include a photo of the book and packaging where it arrived damaged. We will offer a replacement copy where one exists, or a full refund including postage both ways. You never pay to correct our mistake.

8. Exceptions

  • Sealed audio, video or software items once the seal is broken.
  • Personalised or specially inscribed items, and books sourced to your specification through our book finding service where the search fee has already been carried out (the fee covers the work done; the book itself remains returnable).
  • Items damaged after delivery through misuse, accident or storage conditions.

9. Questions and complaints

Email support@booksbymurando.co.uk. We answer every return query, and if you are unhappy with the outcome you can escalate to hello@booksbymurando.co.uk. Full company details are on our Company Information page.
